Gas Pulsations in Screw Compressors - Part II: Dynamics of Discharge System and It's Interaction With Port Flow
نویسندگان
چکیده
Dynamic transfer functions based on four pole arguments are formulated for a typical discharge system. Various models, such as a lumped Helmholtz model, a one dimensional wave motion model and a three dimensional fmite element model are discussed. An iterating method that couples the time domain calculations of port flow to the frequency domain transfer functions is applied to predict pressure pulsations under various conditions. Typical comparisons to experimental data are shown also.

Noise Source Identification in Semi-Hermetic Twin-Screw Compressors
The sound radiation characteristics of a semi-hermetic twin-screw compressor were studied while operating under controlled laboratory conditions at the Ray W. Herrick Laboratories of Purdue University. A fully-condensing load stand was designed to allow the 70 ton chiller system to be operated at the three standard loading capacities of the compressor. The load stand was operator controlled and...

This paper reviews the design of a combination variable I fixed-step port unloader system for moderate capacity refrigeration screw compressors. The general specification of an unloader system to meet application requirements and specific issues of port and flowpath design are discussed. The paper demonstrates use of a comprehensive compressor simulation and a commercial pipe flow analysis prog...
متن کاملUsing a Gas Dynamic Model to Predict the Supercharging Phenomenon in a Variable Speed Compressor
A non-linear gas dynamic model is used in this paper to study the pressure pulsations in the intake of a variable speed compressor, since the perturbation pressure in this study is so large that the linear acoustic theory is no longer valid. Friction and heat transfer are considered in the model. Three numerical schemes are applied to solve the governing equations which are non-linear hyperboli...
متن کاملThe Computer Simulation of Oil-Flooded Single Screw Compressors
A computer model for prediction and analysis of an oil-flooded single screw compressor performance is developed. The model includes suction preheat, pressuri ~~.tion of the gas in the control volume during the suction closure process, flowage of gas and oil mixture through discharge port, leakage of gas and oil. It considers the effect of oil-injection rate, clearances and length of leaka~e pat...
